Where Our Alumni Are Now
BROTHER JUHIE RATHOR
SOCIAL MEDIA MARKETING COORDINATOR,
Meet Juhie Rathor, an Upsilon Psi alum who works at Google as Social Media Marketing Coordinator for Waze. She places high importance on creativity and leadership in her work, and she credits Alpha Kappa Psi for allowing her to develop these qualities in a professional setting.
"Think about why Alpha Kappa Psi has caught your attention. Was it the extraordinary alumni network? The impressive job positions that our brothers have? Maybe even the stellar photography? *wink* For me, it started with the network, but I quickly found more reasons to love Alpha Kappa Psi:
Diversity: In a fraternity that accepts all majors, you're bound to find a bunch of multi-talented people. This diversity is what inspired me to pursue my passion for creativity by majoring in Design.
Resources: AKPsi is a toolbox of resources, and this network has a wealth of knowledge. Use these resources wisely, because these are life-skills that no class will ever teach you.
Opportunities: Not only will doors open to job opportunities and leadership positions, but you'll get the opportunity to learn new things, get out of your comfort zone, and make mistakes in a safe environment. I'm glad that I was exposed to a variety job opportunities, because I quickly found out what I liked doing and what I didn't want to do.
Family: These are not just the people I job-hunt and go to class with, but they're also the people I binge-watch Netflix, FaceTime in the middle of the night, and travel the world with. These are friendships unlike any other, and I am so thankful to call them my second family.
If you’re on the fence about joining, take that first step towards investing in your future because you have nothing to lose and so much to gain."
BROTHER ERIC TAN
INVENTORY MANAGEMENT ANALYST,
OLD NAVY (CORPORATE HQ)
Meet Eric Tan, an Upsilon Psi alum working corporate by day and producing music by night. He DJs under the name “dasu” and creates mixes that tell stories and convey feelings through hip-hop, R&B, and future beats. Most recently, he was reached out to by a radio station in Miami, and had a guest mix and interview for one of their shows.
"I always knew I wanted to tie my interest in fashion and retail with my business brain. Now, I dive deep into financial history and strategy, and "paint pictures" to cross-functional partners through my presentations to drive business growth."
Our alumni continue to help each other in the post-grad world through advice and sharing of opportunities. In college, Alpha Kappa Psi was a catalyst to Eric's growth. He began to think more about and shape his professional development, because the Brothers around him were always doing so. It began a path and constant strive of growth.
"Surround yourself with people that will go far. I have seen generations of Alpha Kappa Psi Brothers, all of them unique in personality, goals, skills, and fields, but every generation has a similar vibe. They are all passionate and intelligent hustlers, who are always looking to help the ones around them."
